While reading Al-Akhbar English website, I was faced with Israeli adverts near the target article. It was a bit of shock for me, but fun at the same time.

I know these are Google adverts and Al-Akhbar has little or no control on them, and I know they track the IP address of the reader combined with his browsing history, but still I thought to poke fun at Al-Akhbar.

To be fair to them, just before browsing their website, I was on Haaretz‘s reading a piece on why boycotting settlements is justified, and it is of course.

But the point here is that Al-Akhbar is making money from Israeli adverts/products. If Al-Akhbar spotted a similar phenomenon on another (remarkable) website, we would probably ended up with a 1,500 words-article on their front page telling us how BDS campaigns (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) should be pushed forward, and how to resist the Zionist influence.

By the way, the original article was Sidelining Muslim Brotherhood: A Blow for Egyptian Democracy written by Karl Sharro who is always worth a follow. You can check his blog here too.

Update: thanks for Al-Akhbar English editor Antoun Issa for taking note of this post.
